This Week in BOOM!
Mouse

Mouse Guard Legends Of Guard Volume 3 #1 (Of 4)

New Hexed!  The return of Mouse Guard!  Kurt Russell!

Adventure Time Marceline Gone Adrift #1 (Of 6)(Carey Pietsch 2nd Printing Variant Cover), $3.99
Adventure Time Marceline Gone Adrift #3 (Of 6)(Cover A Reimena Yee), $3.99
Adventure Time Marceline Gone Adrift #3 (Of 6)(Cover B Molly Ostertag), $3.99
Adventure Time Marceline Gone Adrift #3 (Of 6)(Cover C Leela Wagner), AR

This series has served as my entrance into the Adventure Time comics and it’s been great.  If you missed out, the first issue is getting a second printing, so pick it up.

Big Trouble In Little China #9 (Cover A Eric Powell), $3.99
Big Trouble In Little China #9 (Cover B Brian Churilla), AR

Kurt Russell!

Bill And Ted’s Most Triumphant Return #1 (Of 6)(Cover A Felipe Smith), $3.99
Bill And Ted’s Most Triumphant Return #1 (Of 6)(Cover B Trevor Hairsine), AR
Bill And Ted’s Most Triumphant Return #1 (Of 6)(Cover C Goni Montes), AR
Bill And Ted’s Most Triumphant Return #1 (Of 6)(Cover D Rob Guillory), AR

This is totally bizarre for me.  I honestly don’t know who the target market is for this book, but it clearly exists or it would never have gotten approved.  Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the first movie when I was a kid, but I can’t imagine reading the comic.  But maybe there’s an angle to the characters and the story that I’m missing.

Bravest Warriors #30 (Cover A Ian McGinty), $3.99
Bravest Warriors #30 (Cover B Rachel Wolfe), $3.99

I just recently learned that Bravest Warriors doesn’t actually air on traditional TV, it’s a web series.  I only mention this because a) it shows how out of touch I am and b) it’s interesting to me how many comics (or cartoons) are getting started online now.  Given how high the signal to noise ratio is online, it takes something extraordinary to make it through to anyone, although being created by the creator of Adventure Time probably helps.

Cluster #1 (Damian Couceiro 2nd Printing Variant Cover), $3.99

I realize that a second printing often just means that stores didn’t order enough of the first one, but I’ll be positive and suggest that stores ordered plenty and STILL sold out, because this first issue was really good.

Hexed

Hexed #8

Dead Letters #8 (Cover A Chris Visions), $3.99

One of the best pulp comics being published with some appropriately dark and chaotic art.  If any of that sounds interesting to you, check this out.

Escape From New York #4 (Cover A Declan Shalvey), $3.99
Escape From New York #4 (Cover B Riley Rossmo), $3.99
Escape From New York #4 (Cover C John McCrea), AR

Kurt Russell x2!

Help Us Great Warrior #2 (Of 8)(Cover A Victoria Elliot), $3.99

I’ve noticed that Boom tends to give more rope to all ages limited series. Or, more specifically, that their “adult” books are generally contained to four issues, while the all ages stuff seem to have longer runs.  Perhaps all ages stuff just has better margins for such things, or maybe the emphasis is on art, and thus needs a longer run.

Hexed #8 (Cover A Dan Mora), $3.99

I did NOT see the ending of last issue coming, but what a fantastic twist.  The entire shape of the series should be altered because of it.  You absolutely should be reading this series, if only for the wonderful art by Dan Mora.

Mouse Guard Legends Of Guard Volume 3 #1 (Of 4)(Cover A David Peterson), $3.99
Mouse Guard Legends Of Guard Volume 3 #1 (Of 4)(Cover B Ramon K. Perez), AR
Mouse Guard Legends Of Guard Volume 3 #1 (Of 4)(Cover C Humberto Ramos), AR

Mouse Guard returns!  Okay, I’ve never read Mouse Guard before, but it’s always been on my list, so this seems like the perfect opportunity to start.

Teen Dog #7 (Cover A Jake Lawrence), $3.99

And, hey, it’s a thematic conclusion, as Teen Dog is from a webcomics creator and it’s an 8 issue (more than 4) limited series!
