Another week brings more new comics. These are the ones we’re most excited for as the month of July draws to a close.
Hedra #1 (Image)
(w/a) Jesse Lonergan
Here’s a solicit that includes so many things that sounds cool, but tells you virtually nothing about the comic. What I do know is that Jesse Lonergan has been the cartoonist behind several strong graphic novels at Image and NBM Publishing. With Hedra being a one-shot, it will be interesting to see what kind of story is told within the span of single issue – especially given the concepts referenced below. — Dan Gehen
In a glorious exploration of the comics medium with echoes of 2001: A Space Odyssey, Flash Gordon, Chris Ware, and Moebius, a lone astronaut leaves a world ravaged by nuclear war in search of life. What she finds is beyond all explanation.
John Constantine: Hellblazer #8 (DC Comics)
(w) Simon Spurrier (a) Aaron Campbell (c) Jordie Bellaire (l) Aditya Bidikar
John Constantine: Hellblazer is the only ongoing I am reading from the Big Two at the moment and that’s because I absolutely love it. If you have any interest in John Constantine you need to check it out. — Jason Jeffords Jr
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned—especially one with gills, claws, and the teeth of a shark. Will John Constantine protect the fishermen who are in the siren’s sights? Or will he lead them right to her?
X-Men #10 (Marvel)
(w) Jonathan Hickman (a) Leinil Francis Yu (c) Sunny Gho
I loathe tie-in issues, but I’ve missed Hickman’s X-Men. — Dan Gehen
The Summers family has grown a Krakoan home on the moon. Now some new neighbors have moved in.
