5 Comics We Can’t Wait to Read in October 2025

Spooky season is just around the corner, folks! As we move into October 2025, here’s 5 new comics we’re super excited to check out. 

At Comics Bulletin, we love indie comics. And while we’re also big fans of industry titans Marvel and DC, they deserve their own lists. In this post, we’re taking a look at 5 of the most exciting upcoming comics to check out in October 2025.


Death to Pachuco

Prepare to enter a world of murder, riots & resistance in gritty Chicano noir in Death to Pachucofrom Henry Barajas and Rachel Merrill.

Published by Image Comics and Top Cow, comes an all-new 5-issue series Death to Pachuco, from Henry Barajas (La Voz de M.A.Y.O., Helm Greycastle), artist Rachel Merrill (Izzy n’ Jean), and colorist Lee Loughridge.

The official synopsis reads:

Set against the backdrop of 1943 wartime Los Angeles, Death to Pachuco is a story steeped in historical urgency and cinematic grit. It reimagines the chilling aftermath of the Sleepy Lagoon murder—an event that ignited widespread racial unrest—and explores themes of cultural identity, systemic injustice, and the cost of being seen as the enemy in your own country.

During the summer of 1943, Los Angeles became a hotbed of tension and conflict as a series of fierce clashes erupted between U.S. Navy members and Mexican American youth stemming from the murder of Carlos Urbano. Private eye Ricardo “Ricky” Tellez needs to find the Sleepy Lagoon Killer before the racist mob kills him in the Zoot Suit Riots.The clock is ticking—and it’s ‘a bad time to be a Mexican.’


Spawn: The Dark Ages

Spawn: The Dark Ages will return with a brand-new six-issue miniseries from acclaimed creator Liam Sharp (Wonder Woman, StarHenge).The return of Spawn: The Dark Ages comes from Image Comics/Todd McFarlane Productions. Hitting shelves in October, the debut issue features four covers to mark the occasion, including two by Sharp himself, a blank sketch variant, and a striking 1:50 copy incentive variant by Ryan Brown.

The official synopsis for the new arc reads: At the heart of the series is Erlking Ulegrave, the Devil’s Spawn and master of the Wild Hunt. As Saxons raid from the East, Picts loom in the North, and Hibernians strike from the West, newly crowned King Aurelianus Ambrosius must seek out the Erlking and forge a dangerous alliance to save his kingdom. But can the Christian King truly trust this ancient power—or will such a pact condemn him to eternal damnation?


Maleficent

Brace yourselves for exciting new journey into darkness. Maleficent returns in October for an all-new tale of villainy, set just after she levelled her infamous curse against Princess Aurora.

Publisher Dynamite Entertainment has announced an all-new Disney Villains comics series following Maleficent, created by Paulina Ganucheau & Theo Stultz. Taking place after inflicting her curse upon Princess Aurora, the series follows the omniscient and power-hungry regent as she seeks to fortify her dark powers. Maleficent’s plan is to reinforce her arsenal of magical energy to the point of making herself invulnerable to any threats to her reign.

The debut issue features variant covers from both Ganucheau and Stultz, as well as creators Ellery Santos and Robert Quinn. We’ll keep you posted on all the latest news and updates.


Supernatural

Supernatural has a long history of comic book tie-ins. Some previous projects include Supernatural: Origins (2007), Supernatural: Rising Son (2008), and Supernatural: Beginning’s End (2010). Today, publisher Dynamite Entertainment has announced a new Supernatural series, bringing back the legendary Winchester brothers.

The series new series written by Greg Pak (Planet Hulk) with art by Eder Messias. It debuts in October.

Author Immortal

From Frank J. Barbiere (Five Ghosts, Violent Love) and rising-star watercolor artist Morgan Beem (Swamp Thing: Twin Branches, You Belong Here). Hector Ramirez is a failed writer who gets the opportunity of a lifetime: to help reboot the fantasy book series that defined his childhood. But when he discovers the original author has mysteriously vanished into his fictional world, Hector is pulled into a realm where stories are alive, and some are willing to kill to stay in control.
