James Tynion IV (Something Is Killing The Children) and Michael Walsh (The Silver Coin, Universal Monsters: Frankenstein) have a major hit on their hands with Exquisite Corpses. And sales back that up: both issues #1 and #2 have been rushed back to print.
2025 has been a top year for Image Comics so far, and we’re only halfway through. Some of our highlights include Assorted Crisis Events, Bug Wars, and Lost Fantasy. Perhaps the most popular of all is Exquisite Corpses, from the superstar team of James Tynion IV and Michael Walsh.
Exquisite Corpses is what happens when you blend Tynion’s writing prowess with the brutal, ever-popular ‘Battle Royale’ genre. Think of it as what you’d get if The Purge, The Hunger Games, and Squid Game all had a baby. Add to that a hint of The Running Man, and you’re thinking along the lines of what this comic is. Named “the comic event of the year” by Forbes, it’s very much living up to the hype. You can read our review of issue #1 here.
Publisher Image recently revealed that the comic has sold out yet again at the distributor level. and they will rush both issue #1 and #2 of the new thriller from Tiny Onion back to print this week in order to keep up with escalating reorder activity.
“The entire Corpse Crew has been blown away by the support from retailers and readers alike for the debut of Exquisite Corpses,” said Tynion IV. “As the deadly competition continues in Oak Valley, we want every reader to have the chance to catch up on all the mayhem. Thanks to each and every one of you who has spread the word to a friend (or enemy)!”
Walsh added: “I’m thrilled with the reaction to Exquisite Corpses. James, the ‘Corpse Crew,’ and I have put our blood, sweat and tears into this little comic book, and we are truly in love with the world and its characters. Thank you to everyone who has supported Exquisite Corpses so far. We can’t wait for you to see what’s coming.”
For those who have already read the first two issue, the next issue #3 debuts July 23, and issue #4 releases on August 20. If there was ever a time to jump on the Exquisite Corpses hype train, that time is now.
