2025 has a very exciting slate of comic book TV shows ahead. The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to release myriad content, including the return of a beloved hero. And on the DC side of things, we’re finally seeing Dream of the Endless return to our screens!
In this post, we walk you through five upcoming comic book TV shows this year that you should be very excited to check out. From animated to live-action; superhero to super strange; Marvel to DC — there’s a show for all! Let’s take a tour.
Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man
Release date: January 29, 2025
Created by Jeff Trammell, Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man will become the 12th television show in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The 10-episode animated series follows Peter Parker’s origin story and his first adventures as Spider-Man. However, it does not take place in the same timeline as Spidey in the movies. Rather, this telling chronicles what would happen if Norman Osborn became Parker’s mentor instead of Tony Stark.

Daredevil: Born Again
Release Date: March 2025
The original Daredevil series ran for 3 seasons on Netflix. The Netflix ‘Defenders Saga’ was a standalone franchise, originally set apart from the MCU continuity. However, now all the shows, including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Punisher — have found a home at Disney+.
In the years since the Defenders Saga landed on Disney, we’ve seen characters begin to cameo in the main continuity. Most notably, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil has made brief appearances on the big screen in Spider-Man: No Way Home. And he’s also appeared on the TV side of things, such as She-Hulk and Echo. This year, however, he will make his much-anticipated solo return in Daredevil: Born Again.
Born Again is hugely exciting for fans of the original series. It’s not necessarily a reboot; the events of the original series are still at play. Moreover, fan-favourites Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll). Bring it on!
Peacemaker Season 2
Release date: August 2025
Following on from the success of The Suicide Squad, James Gunn released Peacemaker. The sequel series chronicled the spoils of Christopher Smith, aka Peacemaker, who’s forced into a rag-tag black ops squad and made to save the word from a parasitical virus.
The series (famous for its glorious intro sequence) was absolutely hilarious from start to finish. John Cena’s portrayal of Peacemaker is, in my opinion, second only to Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool in terms of comedy. He’s an absolute star. I can’t wait to see what adventures are in store for season 2. If one thing is for certain, I trust James Gunn’s writing and John Cena’s acting to give fans plenty of laugh-out-loud moments.
The Sandman Season 2
Release date: TBD
Netflix’s adaptation of The Sandman was one of the standout fantasy shows of 2022. The series follows Dream of the Endless (Tom Sturridge), the ruler of the realm we visit when we fall asleep. When Dream is captured and held prisoner for decades, his kingdom falls to ruin, and he loses his totems of power: his ruby, his helm, and pouch of sand.
When Dream escapes his captors, he must rebuild his forsaken realm, starting by reclaiming his stolen artefacts: an epic quest that takes him to Hell and beyond. The Sandman is about as epic as it gets. Fans have been waiting for years to see the show return. Season 2 (which is likely the show’s final outing) will tell some of the comic’s most coveted stories ever. Fans are desperately excited by what’s to come!
Marvel Zombies
Release date: October 3, 2025
The MCU has a great slate of shows coming up in 2025. From Irohheart to what we’ve mentioned above — there’s a gluttony of content coming our way. But for my personal pick, Marvel Zombies has me totally hyped. I loved the comics; I loved the What If…? episode; and I already know I’m gonna love the upcoming show.
Created by Zeb Wells and based on the comics by Robert Kirkman, Marvel Zombies is just as it sounds. It’s the Marvel Universe… but post-apocalyptic. As a self-confessed zombie addict, I can’t wait to see the alternate universe story continue.
The 4-episode series comes to Disney+ in October!
