New Clayface Set Photo Hints at the Joker’s Arrival

The city of Liverpool in England has been transformed into Gotham in recent weeks while Clayface has been filming. In a new image from the set, there’s a poster teasing the Joker.

Written by horror legend Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini, and directed by James Watkins, Clayface will be the third movie in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s rebooted and refreshed DC Universe, following Superman and Supergirl. Described as a full body horror movie, Clayface tells the story of one of Batman’s most iconic villains. It’s inspired by the Feat of Clay episodes in Batman: The Animated Series.

As we’re based in Liverpool, we were on set a few weeks back. We managed to capture a few shots of star Max Minghella outside Gotham’s courthouse. Take a look:

The Joker is being teased on the set of Clayface!

While we couldn’t make it to the set for further explorations, other people have. It’s all been going down, from action scenes to intense and emotional court cases. One user on X, @whitewidow616, recently shared some impressive shots from the set, but there was one that particularly stood out.

They captured a photograph of a poster. “Corruption is the enemy of the people,” it reads. The poster advertises a march against the Gotham City Police Department — organised by none other than the Joker. Is this confirmation that he’s in the movie? Not in the slightest. But it’s certainly food for thought, and an interesting glimpse of what the Joker is up to in Gotham at the time the movie is set. Take a look:

Filming on Clayface continues to take place across the Liverpool City Region. We’re heading back there soon to check out more filming. Be sure to keep checking back to see what we find!

Clayface is set for release in a year’s time on September 11, 2026. Are you excited? Tell us in the comments down below!

  1. So ready! Liverpool is such a perfect place to turn into Gotham as we have seen in The Batman (2022). Great post
