When it comes to comic creators, there’s not many as esteemed as New York Times best-selling scribe Mark Millar. From works as big as Kick-Ass and Marvel’s Civil War, he needs no introduction. Now, Millar has launched his latest project, Conquered, on Kickstarter!
Earlier this year, Mark Millar launched Psychic Sam on Kickstarter, and it absolutely smashed its £20,000 target, to date raising over £80,000 from over 1000 backers. Now, Millar is bringing a long-awaited project into existence. Titled Conquered, Millar first pitched the project as an early teenager. The premise is rather simple; it takes place when a portal opens up in America and an army of fantasy creatures fly through and reign terror over the United States.
“It’s the basic idea of Independence Day meets Game of Thrones,” Millar explained in an announcement video. “The idea of a portal opening up in the middle of New York City, and dragons, barbarians, all these hordes coming in … and wiping out America, just taking the country down. And they’ve got their eyes on the rest of the world.”
A Kickstarter has now officially been launched for the first of four volumes. The project will be made in collaboration with artist Valerio Giangiordano.
