‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Will Feature ‘Multiple’ Doctor Dooms, Including Female Variants

While Robert Downey Jr. might be the central Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, the upcoming movie will introduce fans to a wide range of Doctor Dooms, including female variants.

Marvel fans have had plenty of months now to wrap their heads around the fact that Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the MCU as Doctor Doom. Given that Downey Jr. was the face of the franchise as Tony Stark/Iron Man, the casting was one of the most confusing in cinema history. But it’s not just Downey Jr. who will show up as Doom in the upcoming Avengers flick. According to a new report, the movie will feature multiple Doom variants.

The report comes from the ever-reliable leaker Daniel Richtman, who’s been leaking news for years with an excellent track record of success. In his report, he confirms that multiple Doom variants will appear, including gender-swapped versions of the character. Naturally, it could also follow the comics, where fans have already seen both Cynthia Von Doom and “Iron Maiden Doom.”

Richtman has also revealed Doom’s plans in the movie. For Robert Downey Jr.’s Doom in particular, he will be on a revenge mission in Avengers: Doomsday. As for what that entails specifically, we’re still very much left in the dark.

Of course, this move was somewhat expected. The MCU has showed off scenes with multiple variants numerous times now. Look no further that one Kang scene. Plus, it happened in Deadpool and Wolverine, where fans witnessed dozens of unique Deadpool variants. It remains to be seen whether the introduction of Doom variants will make Deadpool and Wolverine look tame. We’ll all find out when the movie opens on December 18, 2026. Its sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars set to arrive on December 17, 2027.
