Disney+ Lists ‘Essential Projects’ To Watch Before ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
To get the most out of Avengers: Doomsday ahead of its release in December, Disney would love it if fans could catch up on exactly 15 Marvel movies dating all the way back to the first X-Men movie at the turn of the century.
This December, the Marvel Cinematic Universe debuts its biggest and most ambitious movie of all-time: Avengers: Doomsday. The previous Avengers movie came in 2019 with Avengers: Endgame, which served as a culmination to over a decade of MCU story. Since then, the franchise has rebuilt itself, introducing a new era of superheroes.
With Doomsday, we’re getting a gluttony of legacy characters: Chris Evans is back as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and the original X-Men cast, including Patrick Stewart as Professor X and Ian McKellen as Magneto. Then there’s new-generation heroes, such as Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards and the rest of the MCU’s Fantastic Four. Overseeing all of them as the arch villain is Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr., who played Tony Stark/Iron Man for all those years.
With that in mind, required viewing for Doomsday includes movies that pre-date the MCU’s official starting point of Iron Man (2008), as well as more recent flicks like Shang-Chi. All in all, Disney+ lists a recommended watching list of exactly 15 movies. Each of the films included feature core characters that will have a key presence in Doomsday. Let’s take a look at what Disney recommends:

Naturally, this is very much a bare minimum, but hey, not everyone can watch the extensive backlog of MCU projects, including the 13 live-action television series on Disney+. At least once we’re passed Doomsday and Secret Wars, the franchise will indeed enter into a perfect jumping-on point.
