DC’s Absolute Universe line introduces Absolute Green Arrow as a new limited title in May 2026 — here’s everything we know about it so far.
First launching in October 2024, DC Comics’ Absolute Universe has grew to become one of the most successful comic book lines of recent years. The launch was a gigantic success from the outset. Throughout 2025, it dominated month-by-month sales. And more recently DC has announced an entire new reprint for every issue, which is a pretty monumental milestone. Absolute Batman #1 alone has now reached its unprecedented 11th reprint.
Every title so far has been top tier, ranging from Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta’s Absolute Batman, to Deniz Camp and Javier Rodriguez’s completely mind-blowing Absolute Martian Manhunter, and so on. These creative, unique, and reimagined takes have rejuvenated these characters. They’re similar enough to feel authentic, but different enough to feel novel and fresh. They have everyone flooding into comic stores for the latest issues.
“I hope it reminds people that these characters are meant to be renewed,” Scott Snyder said in a 2025 AMA. “They’re meant to be burned down and put together. Batman weaponizes his trauma to make the world better, that’s how he wins.”
As the line continues to bear incredible success, we’re seeing more characters get the ‘Absolute’ treatment. In fact, the a cover for Absolute Batman #20 hints at Robin finally entering the fold. As for new titles, the next one comes in the form of Absolute Green Arrow.
What do we know so far about Absolute Green Arrow?
Pornsak Pichetshote (Infidel, The Good Asian) and Rafael Albuquerque (Superman Unlimited, American Vampire) will usher in the new title. What’s more, it will not inherit typical superhero tropes, but rather, it’ll take on a more horror-focused narrative. The 6-issue limited series follows on from the death of Oliver Queen in Absolute Evil #1 by Al Ewing and Giuseppe Camuncoli. Of course, Queen died in Absolute Evil. How this series incorporates that into the plot remains to be seen.
While Absolute Green Arrow is down as a limited series, it could quite easily continue. Readers may recall that Absolute Martian Manhunter was originally a limited run before being extended.
