Legendary fantasy franchise Masters of the Universe returned to our screens this summer with an all-new, rebooted movie — and it’s proven a hit. For fans who can’t get enough, Dark Horse Comics is kicking off an all-new He-Man adventure.
The Masters of the Universe franchise began at Mattel in the early 1980s; the title was heavily influenced by Conan the Barbarian and Star Wars, industry juggernauts at the time, and still today. Before long, the franchise exploded in popularity thanks to the Filmation animated series, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe in 1983. Since then, there have been various on-screen adaptations, from the 1987 film, to the 2002 reboot, to Netflix-produced Masters of the Universe: Revelation in 2022, and of course, 2026’s Masters of the Universe movie. Reboots have been hit and miss over the years, but the latest live-action is fresh enough to enlist a new generation of fans, much like Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves (2023).
There have also been a number of comic books over the years, starting off under DC and later moving to a the ‘Star Comics’ imprint of Marvel. Today, the stories continue through Dark Horse Comics, and a new 4-issue series, The Wings of Fate, is arriving this summer. Set as a prequel within the film universe of Masters of the Universe (2026), this tie-in is a four issue series from writer Tim Sheridan (Masters of the Universe: Revolution),artist Will Sliney (Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren), colorist Israel Silva, and letterer AndWorld Design.
The official synopsis reads: In the aftermath of Skeletor’s siege on Eternos, a down-and-out refugee gives sanctuary to a mysterious, injured falcon. Now, to save her life, he must embark upon a perilous journey through the Mystic Mountains and seek aid from the storied inhabitants of the realm of Avion.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: The Wings of Fate #1 debuts in comic stores and online on June 10, 2026. The live-action movie is out now in theatres.
