DC Studios Moving Forward With ‘Mr. Terrific’ Series; The Sandman’s Allan Heinberg Writing the Pilot

DC Studios is pushing forward with a series following breakout hero Mr. Terrific, with Allan Heinberg writing the pilot.

DC Studios has gotten off to a mixed start at the moment. Of course, many tend to forget that it officially started with the release of animated series Creature Commandos back in 2024, which was outstanding. But the franchise really made an entrance with Superman in 2025; the movie was a big success, garnering a final worldwide gross of $615.1 million. However, the most recent instalment, Supergirl, was a flop at the box office. But that’s not derailing James Gunn and Peter Safran’s continuity — in fact, recent reports suggest that DC Studios is moving forward with a Mr. Terrific series.

Introduced in Superman (2025), Mister Terrific (Michael Holt), played by Edi Gathegi, is a genius with fourteen PhDs and Olympic-level athleticism. He was one of the standout characters introduced in the movie (of which, there were a legion of additions), and we’ve known for a while that a Mr. Terrific series is on the way.

Now, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, it is confirmed that Allan Heinberg is writing the pilot of Mr. Terrific. Heinberg has a long-running and esteemed career working on comic book projects, notably penning the screenplay for Wonder Woman (2017). He also served as the showrunner on Netflix’s adaptation of The Sandman, which ran for two seasons. The latter was a major achievement for comic book shows, based on a series that was deemed unfilmable for decades. With Heinberg attached to Mr. Terrific, it adds some huge momentum to the series.

As of July 2026, the DCU’s Mr. Terrific does not have a release date. It’s still in development.

Other DC Studios (DCU) series in development and upcoming include Man of Tomorrow, The Brave and the Bold, Swamp Thing, and so on. Which one are you most excited about? Tell us in the comments down below!
