The crossover prevails! According to a report, Deadpool/Batman #1 is the best-selling comic book in comic stores of 2025.
DC was undoubtedly the winner of comics for 2025. While the publisher may not have sold the most comics of the year, losing out to Marvel simply because the latter published more comics, it’s fair to say that DC garnered the most hype. I mean, look no further than the Absolutes line, which we have written about extensively. DC took big risks and it paid off dividends. If there’s one thing we don’t want in 2026, it’s for them to start playing it safe.
Even so, a recent report from Bleeding Cool has revealed that the best-selling comic of 2025 was a winner for both Marvel and DC. Yes, we’re taking about Deadpool/Batman #1, which marked a historic landmark for crossover events. Of course, the two titans of the American comic book industry have crossed paths a couple of times in the past, beginning with crossover event Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man back in 1976. The crossovers would continue periodically throughout the next 25 years, with the most recent being Kurt Busiek"s JLA/Avengers (2003–2004). The release of Deadpool/Batman #1 marked the first crossover in over two decades, and it proved it worth. Fans loved it. The comic was the best-selling issue of 2025, proving that readers are very much ready for more.
Written by Zeb Wells with art by Greg Capullo, Deadpool/Batman #1 saw Wade Wilson get hired for a job in Gotham City. But when in the domain of the Batman, he soon attracts attention from the Dark Knight himself. The issue was highly praised by fans, as were the numerous backup crossover stories including Daredevil & Green Arrow, Captain America & Wonder Woman, and Rocket Racoon & Green Lantern.
Elsewhere in the Top 9, Batman dominates with Matt Fraction and Jorge Jiminez’ new series debut taking the #2 spot. The only indie comic is Robert Kirkman’s Invincible Universe Battle Beast #1 from Image Comics. Take a look at the full list for yourself:
