First Look at DC’s ‘Clayface’ as Filming Begins in Liverpool

It’s a rainy day in Gotham City! We were recently on-location in Liverpool, England, to witness filming on Clayface, an upcoming instalment in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe.

Written by horror legend Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini, and directed by James Watkins, Clayface will be the third movie in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s rebooted and refreshed DC Universe, following Superman and Supergirl. Described as a full body horror movie, Clayface tells the story of one of Batman’s most iconic villains. It’s inspired by the Feat of Clay episodes in Batman: The Animated Series.

As the movie has entered filming, the city of Liverpool, England, has once again been transformed into Gotham City. Of course, Matt Reeves’ The Batman was also partly filmed in the city. We’re based in Liverpool, so as to not miss an opportunity, we headed into to the city centre to see what was going down. On an already rainy day, with added rain from the filming team for effect, we saw star Max Minghella outside Gotham’s courthouse. This movie marks the first time that we’ll see Gotham in Gunn and Safran’s continuity.
