After a positive response, The Horizon Experiment comic series, helmed by Eisner and Harvey Award-winning The Good Asian creator Pornsak Pichetshote, is getting its first collected volume this April!

Published by Image Comics, The Horizon Experiment consists of five unique “pilot” one-shots. Each comic follows original protagonists inspired by pop culture icons — notably Indiana Jones, James Bond, Dracula and John Constantine. The volume brings together a number of incredible talents from across the industry, including Sabir Pirzada, Tananarive Due, Kelsey Ramsay, J. Holtham, Vita Ayala, and others.

The Horizon Experiment is me and some of the most talented people I know seeing what’s possible,” Pichetshote wrote in the volume’s introduction, per Image. “Five one-shots co-edited by one of the best editors in comics, Will Dennis, all released monthly and designed to act as pilots for follow-up books if sales merit. Everyone was given the same challenge: Create a protagonist from a marginalized background set in a popular genre where if the background of that protagonist changed, so would your story.”

Award-winning comedian and actor Patton Oswalt (co-creator of Minor Threats) gave his stamp of approval on the series. “All five of these titles are hilarious, scary, action-filled and brilliant. And Pornsak gathered a murderer’s row of literary and artistic talent to bring these visions to life. I love love love these books and I selfishly wanna read more.”

The Horizon Experiment is inherently exciting just going by the creative names attached to it. The idea of taking iconic, popular genres and covering them from alternate perspectives, offers a unique take. This is gonna be a must-have graphic novel to put on your bookshelves!

The Horizon Experiment, Vol. 1 debuts April 16th. Will you be checking it out? Let us now down in the comments below!
