Esteemed Eisner-winning team of Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen (Descender, Ascender, Batman & Robin) are joining forces once more for Robin & Batman: Jason Todd, an upcoming 3-issue limited series hitting shelves on June 11th.

Writer Lemire and illustrator Nguyen previously worked on Batman & Robin (2022) at DC Comics. The brilliant three-issue miniseries offered up a fresh perspective on Dick Grayson’s formative years and early adventures as Robin, focusing on his relationship with Batman. It was an emotionally-driven series on the Dynamic Duo, tackling Robin’s complicated relationship with Wayne, with themes of trauma, loss and grief. The series has since been compiled into a paperback.

Next up for Lemire and Nguyen is Batman & Robin: Jason Todd, which as the title suggests, centres around Jason Todd’s tenure as Robin and his complex relationship with Wayne. But given Todd’s rash, impulsive and all-round reckless personality — is he really up to being Batman’s new ward? The official synopsis reads:

Batman has a new Robin, Jason Todd. Jason is a rash, impulsive and reckless kid with a troubled past, who Batman was certain could be molded into Gotham’s next protector. But can the Dark Knight save Jason Todd from the darkness within himself? And when a mysterious new villain, shrouded in white cloth and mystery, sets his sights on Jason, Batman realizes that even he has what it takes to train the anger and torment out of his new young ward.
