Every geek loves to argue over which comic book character is the most powerful. In the latest edition of this age-old debate, Invincible star J.K. Simmons has revealed that his character Omni-Man would have the beating of the Man of Steel himself.
Invincible season 3 is here. The new season has announced itself with a bang, once again proving why it’s one of the best superhero shows in the universe. In season 3, Omni-Man, aka Nolan Greyson, faces immense punishment after failing to prime planet Earth for Viltrumite takeover. In season 2, he was taken prisoner for going against his Viltrumite responsibilities, but as one of the most powerful beings in the vast universe, it’ll take some effort to contain him.
Not only is Nolan a seasoned Viltrumite warrior, and one of the strongest people in the Invincible universe, but voice actor J.K. Simmons believes his character could take down some of pop culture’s most powerful heroes and villains with ease. We’re talking Superman and Homelander. All three characters share similar traits (strength, flight, endurance), but Simmons is convinced Omni-Man has the beating of both. And not only that, but he can take on both simultaneously.
“I will take on Superman and Homelander! One hand for each of them and kick their butts,” he said, per Rotten Tomatoes.
This is a bold statement, not to mention debatable. However, I’m totally for seeing Simmons fight in his character’s corner. This is the kind of stedfast support we love to see.
Meanwhile, The Boys actor Anthony Starr has no doubt that his evil, unhinged villain Homelander could take down Superman himself. “There’s no Kryptonite factor, and Homie would fight so dirty. He’s the [type to go], ‘Oh, you got me!’ as he goes down and then comes up and throws sand in your eyes. He’s a dirty dude, man,” Starr told Screen Rant.
Now all we need is new Superman, David Corenswet, to weigh in on the debate. Sure, these debates are as old as comics themselves, but it’s always nice to have a bit of fun, right? Who do you think would win: Omni-Man, Superman, or Homelander? Let us know in the comments below!
