Karl Urban has recently teased big twists and major deaths in the first episode of The Boys season 5: “Anybody’s fair game.”

After wrapping in June, Prime Video’s The Boys will premiere its fifth and final season in 2026. If you thought the series wasn’t brutal enough, nothing is off the table in the final season. There’s no obligations to keep any characters alive. It’s all about making the season as epic as possible. When the ongoing battle between Homelander (Anthony Starr) and Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) reaches its climax, the fallout will be immense.

During an appearance at Fan Expo (per ScreenRant), star Karl Urban teased the season 5 premiere, ultimately revealing that there’s some immediate shocks in store for fans. We assumed this anyway, but to hear it said by Urban adds an extra layer of anticipation. “I think we throw you in the deep end, but in a good way, because the stakes are as high as they can possibly be,” he said.

He added: “I think the real thing to look out for in season 5 on an emotional level, as far as the characters go, and your attachments to characters, there’s going to be some big hits early on in the very first episode.”

While he obviously can’t reveal what’s in store, he says the premiere sets the tone for the remainder of the season. Nobody is safe. Plot armour is non-existent. “That’s probably what is going to make you realize, “Oh, this s–t is for real.” The stakes couldn’t be higher, and anybody’s fair game.”

In the season 4 finale, Homelander finally seizes control of the US. A new president is appointed, martial law is established, and Supes take the law into their own hands. Meanwhile, Billy Butcher made himself a Super through Compound-V, killing Victoria Neuman, and turning to attack other Supes. And, of course, it’s revealed that Soldier Boy is indeed alive.

The Boys season 5 doesn’t have a release date yet, but it will premiere in 2026. We’ll keep you updated with all the latest details. In the meantime, spinoff Gen V is currently streaming on Prime Video.
