The walls of the Hilltop have finally been toppled… but not by zombies. The iconic The Walking Dead set has been demolished, and you can see its final moments in a video of the demolition.
The Hilltop colony was one of the most resilient fortresses in the history of The Walking Dead. Founded by Gregory, the community was first introduced into the series in Season 6 when the main group was led there by Jesus. It would become one of the most important locations in the show, right alongside the group’s main base in Alexandria.
Ultimately, the Hilltop was run by Maggie Rhee, having killed Gregory after learning of his plan to have her assassinated. It became a vital hub for the survivors, with its high vantage point and large-scale grain production. It saw its fair share of epic battles too, notably holding off against an attack from Alpha and the Whisperers.
The Hilltop was located in a fictionalised version of Virginia, but the set itself was based in Senoia, Georgia — the long-time home of all things Walking Dead related. The set itself received immediate plaudits when it was first built, thanks to just how accurate it was when compared to Robert Kirkman’s comics.
The Hilltop set has not been used since the main series ended in 2022 and evolved into subsequent spinoff sequel shows, such as The Ones Who Live, Daryl Dixon, and Dead City. As a result, it was lined up for demolition, sealing its fate and confirming that the set will not return in any future Walking Dead project.
The destruction of the set was caught on camera, and it has subsequently been shared across social media. Take a look:

The Walking Dead returns later this year for the fourth and final season of Daryl Dixon. We also expect Maggie and Negan’s spinoff Dead City to return for its third instalment. After those two air, there’s nothing left in the pipeline for the franchise.
