CGC Analysis: Which Comics are Dominating the Market in May 2026?

Which comics are catching the eyes of collectors in May 2026? Daredevil, Star Wars, and Luke Cage are all trending on CGC’s latest Hot List. 

CGC is the go-to service for comic book grading, cultivating a distinguished legacy for grading not only comics, but collectibles in general. It is the world’s leading third-party grading service, so when they list the most sought-after comics of each month, it helps us track trends.

In May 2026, there’s a couple of expected titles on there. Typically trends align with what we’re seeing on our screens. For instance, a hot title this month is Daredevil #131 — featuring the first appearance of Bullseye — which makes clear sense given that the MCU’s Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is currently airing. It’s also notable seeing a Star Wars title hit the list with the release of Maul: Shadow Lord and The Mandalorian & Grogu hitting theatres later this month.

Action Comics #645 (1989)

Subtitled My Lady Maxima, this issue is written by Roger Stern and George Pérez. In the story, Maxima travels to Earth seeking Superman, keen to take him as her mate.


Star Wars: Episode One: The Phantom Menace #1/2 (1999)

Certainly a rare comic thanks to it originally debuting as a mail-in through Wizard Magazine, this comic has no doubt reached extra demand thanks to the recent release of animated series Maul: Shadow Lord.


Daredevil #131 (1976)

This issue marks the first appearance of Matt Murdock’s legendary nemesis Bullseye. It comes as no surprise that this title is being much sought-after, given that Season 2 of the MCU’s Daredevil: Born Again is currently streaming on Disney+.


Hero for Hire #1 (1972)

One of Marvel’s long-standing sought-after titles, Hero for Hire #1 is the first appearance of Luke Cage. It’s an expensive title, with a 9.8 copy selling for a record $102,000 at Heritage Auctions in September 2022.


DC Comics Presents #47 (1982)

A cult classic with sustained interest, this issue marks the first appearance of He-Man and the broader Masters of the Universe cast in DC continuity. In the issue, Superman is drawn into another dimension to assist He-Man and Battle Cat in battling Skeletor and Beastman.
