From new indie titles to new beginnings for some of DC‘s most beloved heroes, New Comic Book Day on Wednesday, September 2 is just around the corner, and it is poised to be a big one. Allow us to walk you through six of our most anticipated titles that you should be picking up.

Batman #13

While they had a mammoth task ahead of them, Matt Fraction and Jorge Jimenez’s Batman series has been a major success since its debut almost exactly one year ago. In this next issue, they deliver a crucial chapter in their Batman: Bad Seeds event. This one is not to be missed, folks!.

The official description reads: Somewhere in the headquarters of the Gotham City Police Department, Vandal Savage hides a chemical weapon designed to kill Poison Ivy… but if Ivy dies, there will be no ending the bad night of Bad Seeds, for Gotham City or anywhere else. No power. No comms. A heavily-armed private militia tasked with bringing him down on orders of the worst person in Gotham. All holed up together within an impenetrable fortress. This sounds like a job for Batman.

Absolute Superman #23

Jason Aaron and Juan Ferreyra’s Absolute Superman continues the excellent Get Brainiac storyline in issue #23. We expect this to be another crowing instalment in series that keeps going from strength to strength.

The official description reads: Superman’s hunt for Brainiac brings him up against the Toyman, who may just be the most terrifying villain the Man of Steel has faced yet, and their confrontation will leave Superman shaken in ways he never thought possible!

Ben 10 #5

When we talk about outstanding new series of 2026 so far, it’s hard to look further than Ben 10. From the creators of the original animated series, this ongoing comic retells the original series in comic form — and it does it in the best way possible. Whether you’re a new fan, a long-time fan, or you just want some good old action, the Ben 10 comics fire on all fronts. Last issue saw the debut of crazed clown Zombozo, and it left readers on a major cliffhanger. This next one will see the debut of Grey Matter.

The official description reads: Ben has all the power of a number of new and strange alien forms at his disposal, but will any of them be enough to stop crazed clown Zombozo’s mission to spread his brainwashed circus across the entire nation? Ben has an ally with a strategy he doesn’t want to believe is true, but with Grandpa Max’s life on the line Ben has to decide: Is it hero time? Or something else entirely…? And don’t miss the comics debut of Grey Matter!

Teen Titans #1

Kyle Higgins and artist Daniele Di Nicuolo are launching an all-new Teen Titans series this September — and we’re super hyped about it. In this series, the Titans team with Red Hood in their missing-person case.

The official description reads: When one of their own vanishes after attending a rally for Ascend — a fast-growing youth movement training kids to survive in a world shaped by superhuman conflict — Fairplay, Cheshire Cat, Proxy, and Wildcard will do whatever it takes to find their friend, including teaming up with Red Hood! Jason thinks they’re soft and reckless. They don’t understand how he can still kill people. Now they have to work together — whether they like it or not!

The Doom Patrol #1

The wait is almost up. DC is kicking off September 2026 in style with Eisner Award-winning writer Darcy Van Poelgeest (Little Bird) and legendary artist Niko Henrichon (Spectators, Pride of Baghdad) ushering the Doom Patrol into a new age for DC Next Level.

The official description reads: The Doom Patrol is broke. Adopting a heroes-for-hire business model to stave off financial and emotional ruin, the team finds itself responding to a simple case — a missing cat. But when this case proves to be far from simple, the world’s strangest heroes find themselves pulled into a truly out-of-this-world situation! And elsewhere, beyond the view of Robotman, Elasti -Girl, and Negative Man — and perhaps even beyond the veil of our reality — a ghost of the team’s past is preparing to cross into their world.

Crowbound #1

This new launch from Image Comics instantly catches the eye, with the publisher ambitiously naming it a blend of Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale and Cormac McCarthy’s The Road with echoes of Kill Bill and Pan’s Labyrinth. The praise doesn’t get much bigger than that, so it has our attention. Now it’s time to deliver. This series comes from acclaimed writer Jeff Lemire and artist Dustin Nguyen.

The official description reads: When a noncompliant mother makes a dark pact with an ancient, violent Scarecrow Queen to stop a totalitarian government from taking her daughter. Rose isn’t special. She works in the Factory just like everyone else — a dark, sprawling monolithic structure that runs along the coast and cuts the world in two. All that’s left now are desolate settlements that exist in its shadow, made up of submerged villages, derelict woods, and deadly swamps.
