Matt Reeves’ The Batman sequel has headed back to Liverpool as it begins filming in a familiar location.
It’s now been over three years since Matt Reeves’ The Batman debuted. There hasn’t been a sequel yet, although The Batman: Part II is very much on the way, due for release on October 1, 2027. The sequel boasts an even bigger cast than the first, and it’s chock-full of new stars including Charles Dance as Christopher Dent, Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent, and Scarlett Johansson as Glinda Dent.
Production on the long-awaited sequel is officially getting underway. Footage from the set in St. George’s Hall was captured by vylu.marius on TikTok and subsequently shared on X by The Batman Saga News. Take a look:

The location we see in the photos above is St. George’s Hall in Liverpool. This exact location was used significantly in the first movie back in 2022, where it was the setting for the funeral of Don Mitchell Jr., one of the first victims of The Riddler. The set also returns later in the film, used to show the effects of the immense flooding after The Riddler blows up the seawalls and breakwaters surrounding Gotham.
Other locations used in Liverpool for the first film include the iconic Royal Liver Building. The same area was also used in September 2025 for the filming of Clayface.
The sequel has also shot scenes in the nearby Kingsway Tunnel (which connects Liverpool to Birkenhead). The tunnel has a rich history on film, appearing in both the Fast & Furious and Harry Potter franchises.
It remains to be seen where else in Liverpool The Batman: Part II will shoot.
More details on The Batman: Part II
While we don’t know too much about what the plot entails, star Colin Farrell (The Penguin) has been celebrating the movie’s scripts. “Matt Reeves wrote an extraordinary script. Really, really so beautiful. It’s just tasty stuff,” he told ETOnline. While he is involved in the movie, his presence isn’t as significant as it was in the first film. “I don’t have many scenes, I don’t believe, but I’ll be there for whatever. Matt Reeves is so brilliant. I don’t know what the story is yet,” Farrell added (Per The Wrap).
We’ll keep you posted on all the latest news and updates. The Batman: Part II is due for release on October 1, 2027. In the meantime, DC has a couple of other movies coming in 2026, including Supergirl and Clayface.
