This Superhero Gets His Powers by Eating… Dumplings!

We’re always on a never-ending quest to find the most unique superpowers, and we may have found a winning contender. Meet Dumping Defender

Created by Korean food brand Bibigo, Dumpling Defender gets his powers, quite literally, from dumplings. It sure sounds like Po has some competition. The comic landed on Webtoons on March 26, and we can’t get enough (it also implored us to run to the nearest store and pick up some dumplings).

The synopsis for Dumpling Defender reads: When Agwi, hungry ghost demons that feed on the emptiness left by flavorless, heartless food, suddenly appear in town, convenience store worker Jason Kang discovers he has the power to cure the possessed, not with fists, but with deliciousness. Armed with food-based abilities and a passion for real flavor, he must battle to save his city and his own family, one flavor surge at a time. In a world where bland food hollows the heart and great food heals it, the fate of humanity rests on dumplings.

The comic has had pretty modest success so far, boasting just under 5000 reads on Webtoons. It was also shared by huge platform Memezar on Instagram. The post garnered a lot of attention:

Many readers are taken by the completely unique concept. People flooded to the comments to express their opinions. “The real dragon warrior,” one user commented. Others wrote “I’d be a supersayan by episode 2” and “We would abuse this power immediately.”

Has the world just unlocked a new favourite superpower? I know if I got my power involved food-based abilities, I’d be invincible. Come at me, Superman.
