Scott Snyder & Jock's 'WYTCHES' Getting Remastered, Expanded New Edition Ahead of TV Adaptation

Image Comics has revealed an all-new remastered edition of Scott Snyder and Jock’s horror comic Wytches, slated to hit shelves this Fall ahead of the forthcoming Amazon/MGM Studios adaptation.

First published in 2014 from Image Comics, Wytches is widely regarded as one of the biggest triumphs of horror comics. Created by writer Scott Snyder and artist Jock, the series follows the Rooks family, who escape past trauma and move to a remote New Hampshire town to carve out new lives. However, they soon learn that the woods on the edge of their new town are inhabited by ancient “wytches” that feed on people who are pledged to them. The series is regarded as one of the biggest triumphs in horror comics.

Over a decade after Scott Snyder and Jock unleashed the series, they’re seeing the story come to life in an upcoming animated series at Prime Video, which is set to debut later this year. Prime Video, of course, is home to other esteemed Image adaptations, not least Invincible.

To go alongside the animated adaptation of Wytches, publisher Image Comics is releasing Wytches, Vol. 1: Pledged Edition, a special remastering of the story. So what’s new? The new edition collects Wytches #1-6, Wytches: Bad Egg Halloween Special, as well as material from issue #7 of the Image! anthology. Perhaps most notably, it will also feature a significant portion re-colored to match the upcoming animated TV series, which will closely align with Jock’s gorgeous, ethereal artwork.

“Wytches was a deeply personal book, born out of the real fears I had as an anxious parent. It’s one of my favorite projects, and creating it with Jock made it all the better,” Snyder said in a statement. “So I’m incredibly excited to present it again in this new, souped-up edition with all the stories we’ve told over the years collected in one volume. Plus the new colors by Matt Hollingsworth make this the definitive version Jock and I meant to tell. This is a must-buy for any Litchfield fans and those waiting for the TV show!”
